Ethical issues

For research-ethical issues, the PIA-consortium has decided to follow the RESPECT Code of Practice. The RESPECT code of practice is based on three main principles:

1. Upholding scientific standards
2. Compliance with the law
3. Avoidance of social and pesonal harm

The PIA project will also take into consideration other frameworks for research ethics, such as Alzheimer Europe‘s definitions and approaches concerning:

1. Solidarity and interdependence
2. Personhood
3. Dignity

The DEEP guides for field work activities will also be consulted:

1. Involving people with dementia in recruitment and selection
2. Choosing a dementia-friendly meeting space
3. Collecting the views of people with dementia
